HC-X1000 Iris Stepping?

So I've asked this before and got not response.

I started noticing it when editing and now I'm noticing it while recording too. I haven't had this issue on the PX-270.

I don't think this is normal. Is it normal? Does it also happen to yours?

I haven't got the same model, but I think this is the the semi-pro version of the hc-vx980. Same lens and sensor but more manual controls, xlr and higher frame-rates made possible by bigger batteries and better cooling. On the consumer line of camera's stepping of iris is normal. The px270 is a very different camera altogether.

I woudin't exactly compare the HC-X1000 to a consumer camera. Maybe along the lines on an AC90.

Speaking of the AC90, I've used it for a time and haven't noticed any problems with stepping on that model, although I could be wrong since I haven't had much time with it.

Well, the ac90 is the semi-pro version of the hc-x920. Identical lens and sensor unit but the ac90 has more manual controls, xlr-audio and unlocked features in the firmware. The ac90 was released first and later the trimmed down version of it was released as the hc-x920. Maybe the stepping is just a firmware restriction which is absent in the hc-x1000. On consumer cams I notice that the stepping only occurs in manual mode, in automatic modes the iris changes are smooth. You would realy need to ask someone who has one. When I ask specific product questions on amazon, I usually get good replies.
On a side note, now that Panasonic has released the specs of what I consider to be the follow-up of the ac90, the ag-ux90 we can already guess what the trimmed down hc version of it will be like. The hc-ux920 so to speak.

I'm already in talks with Panasonic Philippines and they don't have an answer for me until they get a demo unit of the HC-X1000.

I'd LOVE TO GET the new 4K camcorders since I been having alot of problems with the HC-X1000, one of them being the tiny sensor. I'll most likey get the UX180 since the 20x optical is quite useful for ENG.

EDIT: What camera do you have? Can you test it out for me and maybe post a video too?

EDIT2: So I decided to try my test again but with the iris on auto and AMAZINGLY the iris is silky smooth! Even when I make it dance! Tried doing the same movements manually even doing it fast and you could still see it jitter.

Can you try what I did and shine a bright light into the lens while zoomed in? Maybe take a video too if you could.
