Hey everyone,

First time poster so please cut me some slack...

In August we shot a 2 7D Camera feature and below is a sizzle reel of some footage.

-uncolorcorrected, and mixed in are some olympus i-speed shots as well:

And for anyone interested, here was how the project developed and some musings:

In 2006 a few film school kids spent a summer in between classes shooting a 16mm zombie movie called YESTERDAY.
This movie did better than expected for us by getting us involved with the festival circuit which culminated at Fantastic Fest in Austin TX in 2009.

With having a no-budget feature under our belt, and with a bit more knowledge on how to do things cheaper, as well as the advantage of better digital technology, a second script was developed. Using the first feature as our demo reel we were able to secure funds (a small amount, trust me) as well as a cast and crew willing to donate their time.

The camera gear was donated by the same film school for free, and the 2 7D's were owned by crew members. The most expensive part always seems to be insurance. If you want to use other peoples gear, locations, vehicles, and time it will add up but is entirely necessary. No one wants to quit their day job so we developed a schedule during August vacations that allowed us 17 days.

In regards to a high speed camera which I specifically requested, I first contacted Olympus directly. They said the cameras are extremely expensive to rent and or buy but were helpful enough to give me a list of companies that are their clients. I managed to get in touch with one such client who use the cameras to test their high speed machinery. By going to him instead of a rental house I was able to secure an i-speed for 3 weeks for $2000! Think outside the box to get gear...

After the shoot I returned to my regular job and started cutting by night. We are nearing a rough cut as I type. The advantage here now is that since we have a whole bunch of contacts from the festival circuit from our last film, we can now directly send and get feedback from festival co-ordinators and try and get help to make the film the best as possible.

I'll continue to update the status and feel free to drop me a line. If you like please feel free to follow us on FACEBOOK.

Thanks,
Rob
