Hawk+Kitchen Window=&%$#!

doing a report at home today and heard a thump on the kitchen window.
no big deal--the hawks come through every day and occasionally a pigeon will bounce off a window. Looked out the window expecting to see a hawk with a pigeon and saw feathers everywhere but only the hawk---on it's back, legs up, out cold. Figured it was dying and knelt by it for a while. After about 5 minutes it started to get some movement in its' legs, became more alert. I slowly rolled it over and damn if it didn't stand up. Dazed and confused, groggy as hell and clearly hatin life but it got up on it's feet.

After about 30 minutes it seems to be feeling better because he flattens his head out and looks real pissed off when I get near it---see below.

Anyhow, it's been out there for almost 3 hours now and is much more alert but not going anywhere. I'm thinking that if it is still there after dark the racoons will get it. If that is the case, maybe I'll put it in the shed overnight and see if it will fly in the morning. If not, I guess wildlife rehab is next. We'll see.

Yeah Jim, I think you a right about the Advil----maybe with a pair tongs---LOL!
Anyhow, just checked on the situation and I think he/she is gonna be ok!!

"Nice little birdie, here let me smooth your feathers out....hey, what are you doing? Ow! Stop biting me! OH MY GOD, those claws are SHARP, and........that IS NOT a worm!"

Maybe it was pissed because you didn't give him a decent credit in the pictures, LOL!

nice story. I hope its ok. I have been getting into birds more and more these days. Love birds of prey. thats a beautiful hawk!

Awesome looking bird that is both kinda scary but very majestic looking. I'm glad that it is okay. I can relate. About a month ago I fell and knocked myself out cold, and let me tell you it is not fun at all, especially when you wake up and wonder where the heck you are. I've yet to walk head first into a window though.

You missed your chance, man! When stuff gets knocked out cold, you tie string to its leg. Well, this works with bees. I think taking a hawk on a walk might be a little disastrous.

Yeah, June bugs and bees I can see, but a hawk? The end result I imagine would be screams (both human and hawk), brief flashes of brown feathers, and blood, lots of blood. But then, it might make a good comedic short: "GCO's Hawk Taming Session, A Comedic Look". Nope, sorry guys, the idea is mine, but I will entertain offers to buy the script, once it's written. GCO, you do any acting, I think I might use you as the lead. Hawk (I mean Teflon, not the supporting actor Mr. Cooper S. Hawk) can be my technical advisor, he seems to suspiciously know an awful lot about this sort of thing.

Sorry, GCO, just poking a little fun. No harm meant.
