C100: Having Trouble Sending AVCHD files

Need some advice. I have benn trying to send a 6GB Private file of some C100 AVCHD video and been getting error messages. Neither Dropbox or Hightail is working. So I thought perhaps I should compress and when I do a right click compress I get an error saying "An unrecoverable error occurred while compressing".

I'm trying to save on Fed Ex charges and sometimes it has to be done immediately. Any ideas?

Thanks

Could you convert it to ProRes first using something like ClipWrap? The AVCHD structure is so finicky I try to get out of it as soon as the footage hits the computer.

If you don't want to convert to ProRes, you could use Canon's Data Import Utility to extract the .mts files properly from the folder structure and just send those.

Seems odd Ned! Do you have access to Clipwrap or FCPX to rewrap to .mov? If that doesn't work, it would seem that there is a corruption of some sort.

Another option would be to make a Disk image of the card itself using OS X Disk Utility (If you're on Mac?) I would think there's a PC equivalent to that.

5DtoRGB Batch to Prores 422 is a pretty easy solution. All of my AVCHD gets converted this way, I do not and will not edit AVCHD for the reasons Ned is experiencing. Too much file structure weirdness.

Just use ClipWrap or EditReady to rewrap the AVCHD into .MP4 files. It'll work lightning fast and you'll still have the small H.264 originals.

The error while compressing and the fact that Hightail and Dropbox aren't liking it might mean that it's corrupt. More likely a bad sector on the drive than the file itself. Try copying it off the card or your backup and compressing that.

Thanks everyone. I figured if I convert to pro res it would be very large file, right? I will try some suggestion above.
