I plug my dvx100a into my computer (via firewire) and tried to pull up video on windows movie maker and it didn't locate it could any one tell me what I should do to fix this problem. Thank you so much.

Are you sure that the firewire card is enabled? On a mac I think that it's enabled all the time but on PC's I think they can be turned off.

You could have blown the firewire card by plugging the cameras into the computer hot (on).

Get a deck or at least a cheap cam for capturing. Read the billions of threads about that issue. The DVX is not a capture cam.

I got sony vegas 8 pro yesterday and tried and it still can't locate it. Don't knoe if I need to buy another cable or take it somehwhere where they can't check it and see.

Sorry to differ with you dory, but there is thread after thread concerning the achilles heel of the DVX. That being the susceptiblity of the firewire board when you plug it in to the computer while the camera is on.

Correct. This is a common problem.

Has nothing to do with the DVX, we've seen reports of this happening to just about every camera out there.

Near as I can tell, it comes from using a computer with a six-pin firewire port. Apparently people are somehow trying to plug the six-pin connector in backwards before they get it right, and apparently (again, only apparently) there's an opportunity to short out the power lines when they have the connector backwards. And when that happens the 4-pin port on the camera blows.
