Like many out there I have followed dvxuser for years, but have never chimed in on the discussion myself. It's great to finally have a profile so I can be a part of the conversation. Don't know what took me so long!

My reason for finally signing up is rather odd though, I must say. As a longtime follower of the camera community, I have kept an eye on the standard blogs, forums and cameras that appeal to us all. Naturally I have followed RED, dvxuser and of course Phillip Bloom.

Earlier today I was browsing twitter and found an interesting post from PB about how he didn't appreciate a conversation that had sprung up regarding his choice to stop using the Epic. Obviously this was pretty interesting news. As a shooter that has chosen to steer clear of Red simply for turnaround time concerns (and sensor cropping at lower resolutions) I was very interested to hear what all the talk was about. Judging by Phillips tweet, it seems as tho the post was more speculation than fact, but my interest in reading the post remained nonetheless. After a quick google search, I found the thread that seemed to be the topic of discussion, but for whatever reason it seems that not only was the thread closed, but it's contents have been hidden from the public.

I guess i am left with a few questions. First, what was the thread all about? And secondly, why can't we read it any longer? I find it concerning that the discussion has potentially been censored, seeing as though this forum is often seen as a place for people to freely share information, regardless of its validity or value. I understand that if a particular post was especially vulgar or offensive, it may be rightfully taken down, but i find it hard to imagine that the entire thread qualified as such.

So where's the thread and what was all the fuss about? Can anyone explain what I missed and why the post seems to be gone as of now? Again, I ask out of curiosity. I think it is important that those of us who look to forums such as dvxuser be able to listen, learn, and at times speak our minds. I find it disconcerting that (potentially) due to PB's disinterest in the discussion, the entire community is silenced on the matter. I understand that the thread was made of speculation for the most part, much of which may have been way off, but isn't that kind of the nature of forums like this? Many of the conversations I have observed in my years following forums such as dvxuser have been made up of speculation and opinion, and I think that's part of the appeal. We all get to voice our point of view and thus, discussion and debate flourish. Am I alone here or does anyone else find it hard to believe that the freedom of our discussions is based on whether or not a member or moderator values the discussion?

Can anyone explain the situation for me, as I seem to have missed it?

actually the thread is still here, but was closed some time ago, b/c it got to be a lot of people gossiping and speculating wildly about something they knew nothing about. And, people throwing about wild accusations and making things personal. Which is why it was closed, b/c we kept having to delete nonsensical comments and/or personal attacks.
