Having a Spanned Clip Issue

Hey Guys,
I was only working with one P2 card, but I still have a few "spanned" clips. I guess that is where I let the card get completely full. Since I only had one card, I flipped over to tape until it was done offloading, then I put the camera back to P2 and started that up again... so is that spanned issue coming up because I let the cards get too full or something?
More importantly... how can I get FCP 6 to import these spanned clips?!?!?!
thanks in advance

I'll jump in here. First off there are two different kinds of spanned clips. I say this because I know the difference, but I don't which is called which.

1. With only one P2 card, it is impossible to have a clip that spans over to another card. When the card is full, recording stops, and that last clip is just that, the last clip. When you reformat the card, and start recording on it again, you are starting a new clip.

2. The other type of "spanned" clip is due to the 4GB file size limit on the P2 card. So if you record a long form event of say 15 min, that would require more than 4GB (in some recording modes), so the card creates multiple clips, each of 4GB, and the last a fraction of that. As long as you keep the card file structure intact (CONTENTS folder and LASTCLIP.TXT together in a unique folder), FCP 6 will import those types of clips using Log & Transfer without a problem. In the bin, they will show up as "incomplete". But they can be butted together on the Timeline to reconstruct the full recording.

hope this helps.
