Have any of the 7D firmware updates fixed the overheating problem?

I'm about to go shoot some sporting type things where missed shots make me despise this camera.

Just curious.

Thanks!

The overheating issue is caused by the batteries not being designed for a continuous drain. It's not something the programmers did. Just keep a battery in your pocket and switch it out if you ever run into issues.

Man, I stay away from the forum for a few months and learn all kinds of things when I get back!

Thanks a bunch!

Where did you hear this?

I was told that it had to do with the heat the the dual processors in the 7d. While batteries add to the heat it is not the reason. Where did you get your fact?

I've seen quite a few people post about it on here, and I decided to try it out myself. The results of course aren't totally conclusive, but when I switched it out I managed to get a lot more recording time. Most likely it's actually both, but either way the answer to the question is the same- the hardware is never going to change.
