GH2 Have a feeling the 5D Mark III's video quality won't come close to the hacked GH2s

Personally I think a 5DII with no moire or aliasing and better low light performance is a god send.

I think resolution is over rated. Most content it viewed on DVD or highly compressed on the web anyway.

More rez will buy you a little in post and may make HD Projection (from Blu Ray or HDcam, etc...) look marginally better, which certainly isn't nothing, but it was down on the list as far as features I was looking for. They seem to have hit most of them.

Maybe, for the most part, but it's 2012... and this is the second generation of Canon's video DSLRs. For them to not be delivering a real 1080p image at this point is just a sham... There's just absolutely no reason for any camera with 3x1080p resolution and the latest modern processing to not be delivering a true 1080p image. Don't buy into canon's run-around... we deserve a real 1080p camera this time. And we have the right to be vocal about it if they don't deliver. Don't just roll over and play dead with statements like "well if you don't like it, you don't have to buy it" and such. That's basically free marketing to canon... they love it. To them it means they can keep slow-rolling and crippling for years without backlash.

Resolution is a big deal to me, but I can see why others don't care as much. Plus, it is true that online compression tends to level the playing field a lot.

I find the difference is much more prevalent on wide shots with lots of small details. That's where the hacked GH2 shines for me.

Feel the same way. That's why I dumped the Canon t2i and got 2 gh2's.

If the new generation of cameras doesn't improve on that, then I'm not interested. I will wait until I get better resolution.

If we're not interested in better resolution, then why are we obsessed with high end Zeiss primes....

As a stills photographer many years ago, I still remember the old mutterings: " Hey... 6 megapixels is all I'll ever need.... who cares about 8, 10, 18 megapixels etc".

"then why are we obsessed with high end Zeiss primes...."

Well, I'm not really. I mean I'd shoot on the CP Primes if somebody wanted to loan hem to me. I don't even shoot on L glass. Though high end lenses bring a lot more to the table than resolution. Color rendition, focus accuracy, etc...
