GH4 Has anyone else noticed this?

I used the GH4 daily for a month in June, and encountered several oddities. Two of the strangest that I haven't seen anyone else report yet:

-- Sometimes when I turn the camera on, it had reset the aperture to either f/0 (huh?!) or f/22. This happened at least half a dozen times over the past month. I only have to turn the dial to change it to where I want it, but ... weird.

-- New folders are created randomly by the camera. It stayed on 100_PANA for several days of shooting, and then it mysteriously added and started using 101_PANA. (Daily I transfer my files to a laptop by removing the card from the camera, copying via a card reader, then putting the card back into the camera and formatting it.) It stayed on 101_PANA for a while, then went to 102_PANA. One time it actually went to a third folder during the same day (i.e., there were a 103_PANA, 104_PANA, and a 105_PANA all on the same card). This would be meaningless except that every time it switches to a new folder, it numbers files using the folder number (e.g., file numbering jumps from 100xxxx to 101xxxx). Each folder should be able to hold 10000 files, but it's "wasting" the numbers. I'm already up to > 80,000 file numbers used, but I shot less than 10,000 files. At this rate it may begin to renumber back to 0 before I'm done with the body. Not a disaster, but pretty stupid.

The f/0 is probably a bug in the system.

As for the folder naming structure, it has the same behavior in older panasonic bodies like the gx7. I believe it ups the # every time a new card is inserted into the camera to avoid confusion in repeated file names.

That doesn't seem to explain the behavior I've seen, since the new folders are all on the same card. (I used the same card exclusively except for one day when I used a backup card instead.) Every time I inserted the card I formatted it, so it always started empty. It always created the same folder it had been using, and then sometime during the day (when it happened), it would create a second, new folder. (Except for the one day that it created TWO new folders.)

Oddly, or perhaps just coincidentally, every time it created a new folder, the raw / jpg files were in the range of 830 - 864 (except for the one time when it created two new folders -- that time, I didn't even get to shoot any photos, only videos, before it changed to a new folder).

I've got to think this is a bug as well, but I was hoping someone else had also noticed the same behavior.

The GH3 does the same folder thing.
Ah, thanks! That's both reassuring and disappointing.

I can't imagine why they aren't able to fix what seems to me to be an obvious bug. But now that I think about it, as long as it goes up to 999_PANA, there's very little chance I'll use my GH4 enough for it to ever roll around to 100_PANA again. So maybe they just have more important things to work on.

My GH3 goes to 999 files before new folder created, and carries over to each new SD card. But the GH4, so far, created it's first new folder at less than 500 files. The "file reset" option in the Tool menu is off in both bodies. Looks to me like there's a GH4 bug at work here.
