Hard Case for HMC150

Does anyone know if the AG-YUC150 is still on sale or has it been discontinued? B&H says the item is temporarily out of stock, so I'm not sure. If this is discontinued, what is another good alternative hard case for the HMC150?

Thanks!

Both have wheels and are the best cases made for camera equipment.

Whooo.... this could get all Mac vs PC soon...

I use a Tenba Air Case - suitcase- style black cordura... it's housed my medium format gear, My DVX and now the 150. Tenba stuff is great if you don't like the molded plastic stuff. I like that it looks more like a suitcase when I travel. And you can stand on it for high shots in a pinch. Not the full-downpour waterproofing of some pelicans, but it can handle a pretty heavy sprinkling.

I've never liked the plucked foam cases, the stuff falls apart and you can't reconfigure it - for a few bucks more, Pelican cases can be had with divider systems. My divider cases have seen me through 18 years of technology updates. Whatever you choose, it's nice to buy cases that last decades.

A while ago I ordered the AG-YUC150 from B&H, and had to cancel my order after almost a month and went with the Pelican. I love it. After I ordered the AG-YUC150, they made it temporarily out of stock. Can't lose with the pelican. Already brought it out in pouring rain, and not a drop got inside.

I use a Panasonic case and it is excellent. I use Pelican cases for lots of my gear but the custom made Panasonic holds the camera, batteries and accessories, is airline size and really protects the camera. That a pick and pluck Pelican is better would be incorrect, it might work better for some but not better for sure. A custom cut foam in a Pelican would be good. I had a Panasonic case for my DVX 100B previously and it convinced me to go this route for the HMC150 as well it adds value to your camera when you sell it.

Thanks Brian. Could you post a picture of your camera in the case, just so I can get a better idea of how it all fits in the case?

I second, pelican are the best. I use the 1520 i think. The pick and pluck allows you to customize it to your camera. My dvx has been all over the world in that case and survived. My HPX will do the same. The water proofness is the best part. they also have that presure regulator thing so you dont have trouble on airplanes (although mine always rides with me as a carry on)

Here are a couple of quick iPhone pics to give you an idea. I have six large batteries, one small battery, panasonic charger and cord, varizoom controller, six or more filters, rode shotgun mic support, set of ear buds, 72mm clipon lens cap, pelican sd card case, lens pen, lens tissue, spare 9 volts, AA's, Sennheiser 500 series receiver and plug-on transmitter in the case at all times and have no problem getting to anything when I need it. I should also have mentioned that the Pelican that now carries my mattebox, Brevis and lenses was originally used for my DVX 100 for a couple of weeks then I bougtht the yellow version of this one because it worked better for me. I like it because it is not dusty or subject to tearing like pick and pluck. I have the Pelican Separator setup in my 1550 for the lenses etc. Less dusty.

I could have gotten one of those pretty cheap a year ago but I didn't realise they had so much room. Oops.

You have to be judicious in your placement of stuff but it is quite good. Someone I know removed a small rectangle from the top foam the same size as the one in bottom on the left and inserted a dollar store plastic box with lid and he stores more stuff in there without any compromise to the camera compartment. I ship the lenses and mattebox in the Pelican with a big mother padlock on it. I like this kit because if anything were to happen I could still shoot with it at least b roll and interviews, its the old ENG news thing in me.
