Hard Case and the A1

Hey all,

I've been using a large camera bag for my A1 but would like to get a proper case. I've searched around and can't seem to find anything that seems like the right fit. Hmph. Any suggestions?

The Pelican 1510, to be exact... fits perfectly and carry on acceptable.
Memphis, you wouldn't happen to have (or be able to take) any photos of your A1 in the case? I'm planning for a documentary abroad and would love a carry-on case, so long as it fits some accessories.

What about the Kata MC-61, I know it is not a hard case but I've read it would not only carry the camera but mics, WA filters and stuff and a MacBook Pro 17", and yet be fine as a carry onboard bag.

Pelicans are brilliant cases, I had a mate in Canada who would throw his $5,000 worth of SLR and lenses into the cold pacific water in British Columbia - just because he could.

I wouldn't recommend throwing your camera gear into the ocean, but if it's in a Pelican case - it's about as safe it can possibly get.

I had an old Pelican 1520 that I just carved out for the shiny new A1. The fit wasn't great *depth* wise... there's very little foam under the strap mounts and the lens shade has to be removed and placed sideways. Wheels would be nice too but it'll do the job just fine for now. Here are some pics:

I'll may replace this with a home depot toolbox for everyday use (light, cheap, inconspicuous... and I'll be able to keep the lens shade on!).
