P2 Viewer is dead.... Long live P2CMS!!

I'm currently at Broadcast Live at Earls Court (London, UK) and on the Panasonic stand they are demonstating an app that will allow full database documentation of P2 clips and Metadata. It also allows you to create and upload P2 metadata to the HVX all within a nice usable interface. Its also PC and wait for it Mac fans..... MAC compatable!! :))))

Chap on the panny stands reckons that its DUE to be delivered "by August" and pricing has yet to be finalised but he feels around the 200ukp price point would be about it.

The above might already been known but if you do a search I've been asking about Mac compatiable Metadata solutions for over a year! I'm pretty much exstatic!

Bueller?

I'm suprised that nobody has heard of it..... its like a database application that you can ingest, store and search, play and mark etc etc your p2 clips all within a slick interface. There was a chap here not long ago that had a Filemaker database that is very similar.

It looked in a very advanced stage of development with the man on the stand popping in a P2 card to an 'old' G4 Powerbook and having P2CMS process it. It really did look like the dogs danglies as we say here in the UK!

Indy....

sorry couldn't find anything but the man rekoned that it is due to be released with in a month or two..... wonder if Jan knows anything about it that she could disclose?

Indy....

I just installed it, but I'm on the road with the macbook with no P2 cards stored, but I can start it up and imagine the potential!

Mr GLory, thanks for the info!

ITS ALREADY AVAILABLE!

Quick FIrst impressions on a Mac Pro:

Didn't try ingestion of P2 card, but selected Macintosh HD2 (Some archived P2 footage there)

The Software displays all My Macintosh HD 2 SHots. They are all viewable. Yes, folks, this IS the Free P2 viewer we wanted for the Mac...

And probably P2 Log, too... (without the fix function).

More later.

EDIT - Installed on a MAC OSX 1.0.4.8, and its working.

Quicktime 7.1.3- Ditto.

EDIT AGAIN- It opens individual folders created by us (ex: Fireworks card 1), and displays the shots as if it was one card. Excelent. Double click on the thumbnail and it displays the video and audio. When thumbnail is selected, it appears the shot's file size.

Happy, Happy!

Just downloaded it. Works great on G5 with 10.4.10 - FCP 5.1.4 and QT 7.2 except it doesn't play back audio, it says QT 7.2 is not supported and I assume this is the cause.

A great little function that I will use a bunch, in the playback window, the "Capture" button will save a screen grab of the current frame in full res!

This has been a long time coming, and I am looking forward to integrating it into my workflow.
