Hacking the Nikon d5100 above 100 mbps

Hey Everyone,

I'm getting a Nikon d5100 in two weeks.

Does anyone know a website where you can hack the bitrate up to 100 mbps or higher? I know you can do it with the Canon and GH2 (up to 176) but is there links out there for the Nikon too?

In April Ntool was released for Nikon cameras (similar to the Ptools hack made for the Panasonic cameras) but it's still early days -- I'm sure you'd hear more about it on here if it were further along. Anyone have any new info on that hack?

I think it's still just a proof of concept, with no improvements at all for the final user.

No hack/patch is yet available for Nikon's bitrate.

While NTool currently doesn't enable you to raise the encoder's bitrate, it does allow you to disable the recording time limit. In high quality modes, this extends the limit from 10 minutes out to about 24 minutes.

Eh? My D5100 gives me 20 minutes stock.

I think with the patch your recording time is actually unlimited (subject only to card space/filesize, battery and/or overheating).
