GH2 Hacked GH2 Impressed in the new Zacuto shootout

Don't know if any of you have seen or heard this, but apparently the GH2 punched well above its weight class in the Zacuto Revenge of the Great Camera Shootout.

Footage isn't going to air for a few weeks, but people have put it in 3rd place behind Alexa and the F65. Apparently a very famous, yet to be named film maker chose it as his preferred image of the lot.

Pretty wild stuff!

Andrew's quotes are out of sync (not surprising, though).

Yesterday we screened the Test Footage at SkyWalker Ranch and recorded comments of the viewers that will go into the 2012 Shootout. the audience viewed it blind not knowing which camera was which and Let me just say that many people picked the GH2 as their favorite including a special guest that I will not name--not George Lucas--but will blow you away when you see it in episode two on July 15th. It was all over the map, their were some consensus but when viewed side by side, it's hard to tell what's what, very subtle differences. To me I could tell the differences in the lower end cameras but others did not.

Whoops. Should've know there would already be a thread about it here somewheres.

I've not yet pulled the pin on a GH2, but am still very tempted. The best of the vimeo clips, even unhacked reveal it as the most cinematic of the dslr's given the right glass. And it is still the only system I can use my 16mm lenses with. Sigh. All things being equal I'll probably get one regardless of what else is on the horizon, hoping for a pre GH3 fire sale so I could get 2. If I knew for sure that Blackmagic would eventually do an m4/3 mount, even a year or 2 down the line it would seal the deal for me and make the investment in the voitlander and slr magic primes a worthy long term investment.

What do you care VMT, He has every right to express his opinion, and if it comes off as a "slight" then so be it. Both times I have visited the site, it was full of nonsense, pretty much like today. So if it bothers you, then move on. big deal. And your unnecessary point, is utterly rediculous. Has no bearing on what Kholi was saying.

Snickering or bickering aside, the GH2 has done us proud, and validated our belief in the little camera that could.

It certainly doesn't have anything to do with what I said. Andrew frequently misquotes or twists information around, a slight is not a slight if it's the truth. Sorry if anyone took offense to that.

Glad you understood that my point was unnecessary, cause that's what it was supposed to be. Well, you almost got the point, seeing that you're apparently miffed :)

I couldn't care less what his opinion was (that's part of the point!), but it certainly bothers me when I'm drawn to a potentially interesting thread, only at the end to read some totally unrelated unnecessary personally weighted comments against someone that I couldn't care less about. It happens often on these forums...comes w/ the nature of the medium, I suppose.

then move on. big deal.
I suppose then I don't have the same "right to express" my opinion? :)

Amazing. I'm really bummed I couldn't make the NYC screening this week because I was out of town that day. Wish I could see what GH2 footage looks like on the big screen. I'll be anxiously waiting for the web release on June 15th.

People over at REDuser are moving on to conspiracy theories. Time to get another popcorn and make it a large one xD

What is it with REd users and their complaints. Every time one of these tests take place Redusers complain that some particular factor was not done properly. Now they're complaining that it was the guy who shot the RED test thats at fault because he's not ASC.
How come the other cameras don't have these user issues?
I think they have embraced the "we are a scam" underdog attitude to such an extreme degree that its become an excuse to whine constantly. If the reviews are true, I'm glad the GH2 smoked it.

I find filmmakers located in the Philippines unsurprisingly lacking in originality.

***just making an unnecessary slight to prove a point.***
So true. I wouldnt even deny it. A lot are absolute sh1t. Maybe you could use a different example to validate your point.

"If the reviews are true, I'm glad the GH2 smoked it."

I wrote the original one (Australian screening)...and it's true. Actually, I was being conservative compared to some of the more recent reviews that have come out of screenings in the USA. Many placed the GH2 first. That's great, but going beyond my personal ranking of the cameras.
