GH2 HACK: Seaquake + Stock at the same time?

Hello, all. I'm a noob when it comes to the GH2 hack, so forgive me if this is a stupid question.

I want to try out the GH2 hack in order to shoot the best quality footage available from this camera (at the moment that's the Seaquake patch by Driftwood) for narrative filmmaking. However, I also frequently have to shoot long-form events where being able to shoot 3+ hours in a single take is essential. I do this now very well with the stock GH2 24Mbps 1080p @ 24fps and a 32GB SD card.

Is there a way to have both modes on the camera at the same time? I mean, one of the custom scene files be set to the Seaquake settings and another to the stock settings for long-form recording? That way I can switch between the two modes easily without having to re-flash the firmware. Is this even possible?

Thanks for any help!

Use a more aggressive setting for 24H (highest quality/bitrate), and a less aggressive setting for 24L (span & duration tolerant). Or, bring locked 2GB SD cards preloaded with different patch settings and change in the field as shooting needs dictate.

It's not a "choose once and cope" sort of scenario.

wow... glitch in the Matrix there...

Set the 24L setting to a lower bit-rate - try 44 - still looks good without hogging card space.

I thought there was a reason they set the 24L numbers where they do.
Me too. That's why I ask if it's OK to change those numbers. If not, then I'd have to go the route of two different SD cards with different hacks on each (which isn't the end of the world, just not as convenient as I'd prefer.)

That would be cool as This weekend I shot 15 hours of footage and doing that with a high bitrate hack would have been really rough.

Wish I could tell you why, but finding info on Personal-view is a nightmare. Maybe someone here has the information off the top of their head.

I don't know if it's OK, but I've done it anyway. Camera hasn't exploded, imploded, sent suggestive emails to my stepmother, or transmogrified me into a giant cockroach yet. I'll notify if it does.

Putting cbrandin 32mb on 24L (spans, lcd preview and saves card space) and whatever you want on 24H would be nice to have, but I'm in the same boat and don't really know what to adjust to make it happen.

Just in case anyone is still following this, I posted the question on Personal View and their response was that the 24H and 24L numbers are indeed linked. Therefore, you aren't supposed to change the settings on the 24L because they are necessary to achieve the high bitrate of the 24H Seaquake patch.

Looks like I'll have to re-flash the firmware everytime I want to switch from low bitrate to high bitrate. So I'll have to keep two separate SD cards with the different patches on each, and make sure I have a fully charged battery to make the change. Bummer.

EDIT - And by "bummer" I actually mean "it's amazing the quality that can be achieved wth the hack on an $800 camera, so I shouldn't really complain about spending two minutes to change the bitrate settings." ;)

Why not use the 44Mb hack - it gives me 45 mins on H & over an hour on L, using a 16GB card. On your 32GB card, you would get 2 hours long play, and the quality is plenty great at 44Mbit in my experience.

Disappointing you can't easily mix & match... supposedly... I've got 166 on the 24H setting and 44 on the 24L setting, GOP1, and they're both spanning OK... guess I'm not achieving my utmost at the 24H level?

Well, either way, each looks pretty freakin' good.
