Ha-wón-je-tah (8:27) - Beautiful art. The American West. A tragic story. Dang, Elmer does it again.

The painter George Catlin traveled (1830s-40s) the American West, chronicling its vanishing cultures. The story of Ha-wón-je-tah is from his journals. They're actually quite wonderful and online somewhere -- Google it!

I was outraged. So the next time my doctors passed by, I interrupted their conversation about Asian girls and new bar drinks to shout, "Do you know who I am...or...or at least who I'm gonna be?"

The next time my brother called the hospital he was told my condition was listed as very stupid.
