GVD-1000 replacement?????

I use a pair of GVD-1000s for mounting cameras in nasty places. These decks get pretty beat up and I"m thinking I'd like to replace them before they die at a bad time. So, anybody got a recommendation for a replacement? I'm using lipstick cameras that are SD only and 4:3. I'm most interested in a solid state solution but its hard to beat tape.
 
I've answered my own question. Dont know why I had such a hard time finding it.

The replacement is the GV-HD700. Records SD on miniDV and plays back in HDV. Available at B&H and J&R.

Anybody have any comments on it???
 
Im confused at what you mean that you use those decks for mountain cameras in nasty places. Are you saying you have the camera mounted somewhere and your just monitoring the shot with the GVDD-1000?

MadDog is using lipstick cameras (read the OP again). So these decks are the recording devices.

WARNING!!! I have learned the hard way that the GV-HD700 deck does NOT support LANC control. So I"m screwed because there is no way to remotely control this deck with a hard wire solution. (The IR remote control is useless for me) I'm now looking for another GV-D1000 and it looks like I'll have to gamble on a used deck.
