Group Buy on the OSEE LCM156 10bit production monitor

Dark Side of the Camera
I received my LCM156 monitor last week, and gave it a test run on the first weekend of shooting "The Easy One" - Pretty amazing bang for the buck, in my opinion.
I also wrote an article, if someone is interested.

I also was able to arrange a group buy

Thanks for the heads up Frank! The field kit is precisely the sort of client monitor/video split setup I've been wanting to put together for a while. I tried Osee's online shop, but it calculated $340 USD just for shipping(!). Do you have a contact person I could get in touch with to discuss finding a cheaper shipping option?

So the Cheesycam discount is only $150 off. The group buy discount (if we reach 19 or more people) is $220 off for the monitor alone and $250 off with the rugged case.

What do you mean by "sort out the SDI/HDMI thing?"

Some of their functions like vectorscope and waveform are only available over SDI not HDMI, so if your cam outputs only HDMI, you need to add something (like the Atomos H to S converter) that can change the signal from HDMI to SDI to get those functions to display on the OSEE monitor. See the video here from about 1:43 to 2:30 it's explained:

Frank do you have any contact details for them? If I can organise cheaper shipping, you can count me in on the group buy (for a field kit).

Cheers,

Mark

Okay here is some updates:

I asked about the UHD/4k compatibility.

The LCM156 sees 4K footage, for example with a BMC Decklink SDI Output - from both Resolve and Premiere with no issues at all.
But since it is a HD panel, you only see HD resolution of course. And HDMI directly from my laptop from Premiere Pro shows 4K footage in the LCM156 fine as well.

And - BIG NEWS - we reached an even higher discount

Latest Numbers:

$300 off the Field Kit
$255 off the LCM156

Yeah!

The Group buy ends this week - I gonna post the Discount codes here Monday morning.

Okay gentlemen, start your engines.

Here are the discount codes you can use on the Osee shop site, to order your kit/monitor and get the discount.

$300 off the Field Kit - discount code: BMCUSER-300-FIELD

$255 off the LCM156 - discount code: BMC-LCM

Sorry I should have been more specific. Especially since the one thread is 6 pages long.

Basically tests showing a much lower contrast ratio than is advertised, and black points that are worse than most high end computer monitors and very poor uniformity across the monitor. Many users also reporting magenta and green tints. In the liftgammagain thread Steve Shaw from LightIllusion had plenty bad to say about many of test results posted which were performed by independent users.

I mean if you're looking at getting this for colour grading or having an "accurate" display for on-set monitoring --- well is it? Especially considering it's only an ~ $800 display?

I'm thinking of pulling the trigger on a field kit but after reading about it, I'm not so sure. Just wondering what people have seen or heard about these recently.

I'd be curious about those things too. I had been following this monitor for a while so some of those shortcomings were in my mind. I thought maybe in the past year they were able to improve some of things people were complaining about but it doesn't seem clear exactly. I'm interested in the field kit too but it's worrying that it might be a professional looking system built around a mediocre panel, plus it's always a little hard to swallow paying full price for something people paid 40% less for a year ago... but the group buy helps a bit in that regard.
