Green Screen Shoot, help

Hello,

I’m doing a green screen shoot in the next few days. It’s going to be shots of people inront of a greenscreen that will serve to populate preexisted plates I have been given.

I’m shooting with an HVX200 and working on a G5 in Shake and After Effects.

Here is my question, is their some kind of software I can use that if I feed video out from the HVX into the G5, I can preview what I’m shooting live with lets say 50% opacity and have my plate underneath so that way I can make sure that the perspective I’m shooting from will match the perspective of my plate? It would also be nice to be able to scale and move the live feed ontop of my plate, since the subject or subjects in front of the greenscreen will be majorly scaled down to the plate later in post since it’s a vista shot.

I’ve trying to find info about this but couldn’t find anything for the life of me. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Major thanks in advance

film in HD, make sure the greenscreen is pretty evenly lit, and provide 6-10 feet of seperation between the greenscreen and the talent and you will be set. After Effects is a keying mother. It really will do most of the dirty work for you. take a look at the color keying tutorial over at video copilot for more info. I wouldnt worry about a real time preview system, and if you screw it up, theres always ultimatte....a bit pricey, but I once saw a guy key out a woman in a blue dress filmed in front of a blue screen with it.....

THis camera is so easy to work greenscreens with it is absolutely unreal!

dont "film" at all because youre using a VIDEO camera - but other than that, tim does pretty well present the various "safety net" approaches.

but i do have to say, if you have to ask this question, you have no business trying to populate a "plate" professionally. can be done. and can be done well, but it's not even close to easy

Thanks for the quick responses

The Veescope Live software is pretty much bang on to what i'm looking for. Out of curiosity is their any other software that’s similar to Veescope Live?

Not exactly live but I use Adobe Premiere Elements combined with On Location in my Laptop to knock off quick and dirty keys when matching fg and bg (plates) or just testing Chroma Keys..

Another way for you maybe a hardware solution eg. use a vision mixer.

Thanks for the help everyone, much appreciated. The shoot went great and everything worked like a charm. I didn't have a chance to use the Veescope live software this time but I'll probably be implementing it next time.

Cheers
