Green Screen 2

Very nice job John. I would agree about the fan blowing her hair. Buy one of those huge industrial fans! It would be cool, instead of putting your clothes in the dryer you can just pin them up and have that sucker blow on them for 5 minutes.

LOL

Thanks guys. Yes, that's my wife. The mother of my child. I wish I had an INDUSTRIAL fan; that would sell it. And I too noticed the balance of the truck in relation to the horizon. This was was more a study in lighting properly; 2 white bounce cards on hood directing natural sunlight into the cab and the mother of all HMI's - The Sun. I tried to position truck in relation to the background plate. Also, 1 little floro daylight balanced light in bottom of cab to get light underneath the faces.

I still see some 'keying' errors however; I'll be working on that. The green screen is fabric from a fabric store for $30.00 (a 8' X 7' Sheet give or take).

At one point I am actaully moving the truck up and down; total ghetto guerilla. In hindsight, I can see it working better with more random movement than 'up down up down up down'.

I'll keep trying! My favorite shot is the second dolly from rear to forward; something 'cinemalike' about it.

John, make sure you don't have a capitalization error. If the filename is blah.MP4 and the link is blah.mp4, it won't work. You have to match capitalization. I'm sure you know that, but that one's bitten me before so I thought I'd point it out.

question, who was the chick. if its your wife, she's an attractive female, if its not, she's HAWT. i dig chicks that wear tank tops with no bras!

:D
Sorry John I have to second that!
Good work fella! Green screen that is...I'll stop..typing now.
J.P.

nice john! that was very nice and realistic.

about the mp4's... what I do is, create the .mp4 file, place it in my server folder- then the link will only work if I right click and save from the given link. but opening up a page from it will result in codes... because mp4 doesn't stream.

i could be far from your current discussion but just tryin' to help.

I tried that; I'm going mad.

I did exactly what I do when posting my .mov files to no avail. Bizarre. It's a such a nicer quality clip too.

..whats this john? why do you keep having to do stuff to inspire other people..

this is good though.. pretty convincing.. the only thing tat bothered me about it was that the background seemed too bright.. maybe not the brightness though as much as something about the coloration or contrast. if its was a bit more contrasty or darker at least i think it would be even better.. anyway, nuff bout that.. this rocked for a composite project.
certainly pretty convincing as is

Thanks Neil

I am doing this for a variety of reasons; I always wanted to, I never have, I don't want to need to do it and have zero idea how and I'm just trying to keep busy filming 'something'. There is tons of room for improvement and I'll keep working on it.

Hasn't anyone caught my Jackie Brown homage? The song? The titles? Even the Roman Numeral Date on the opening?

..just stop inspiring me.. im too busy already. ..seriously. you bust something cool out here every week. and im chomping at the bit to try some of this stuff out. but i have to take some down time .. got a couple projects ill be wrapping up soon. and need to lay down for a while then. its like you feeding me sugar before my bed time.

i had to shoot in a car yesterday. had a whole hour to shoot.. (wheres that shifty eyed smiley dangit) and the outdoor lighting was against me the whole time.. wouldve loved to have been able to pull a GS shot like this had time and project timeline/schedule been permitting.

I wish I had a car that drove on its front wheels, while the back was in the air. no im just kidding, it looks neat and it was fun to watch.

Exactly. I explained to my wife "Imagine me having to shoot some conversation in a moving car on my budget. Hmmm. Car Mount? Nope, don't have that. Extra people to hold Boom? Nope. Lights for Interior of Car? Nope."

If one was creative enough; you could sell this with proper back plate, lighting and compositions. RR's Once Upon a Time in Mexico has Johnny Depp driving with a green screen plate behind him; Taratino usues this technique often with Kill Bill and Pulp Fiction.

It's stylized for sure; but.... In a controlled enviroment one can set up the lights and bounce cards, stick a boom mic in the cab out of view and do take after take without worrying about running people over or the Car Mount falling off with the DVX attached.

Sides; it is kind of fun. :cheesy:

Murph - Yes, I know the camera was not 'leveled' properly. Damn it; I had my wife and get helping; I was operating at light speed.

sorry bout making that comment about your wife john, although i stand by it. i am but a man my friend and men are what men are.

LOL.

Very cool- most everything I wanted to say about it has already been said! The ultra-low horizon of the background keeps throwing me off, but that's really easily fixable, so no biggie. The only other thing I thought of it this: If you were actually filming in a car that was driving along the street, the interior would be a fair bit darker that the sunny day outside the windows, right? That is to say, if you adjusted exposure for the interior of the car, anything outside would come out as a little washed out or overexposed. Maybe you would up the lightness of the background just a bit to give it that extra "oomph" for realism. What do you think?

I hope that was decipherable...

lucidz - I understand. I got lucky on that one. And she's a killer mom.

Andyape - I see what you mean. I am very pleased with the exposure factor but agree something is off in terms of what it would look like actually inside the car. I wonder if I used the window side beam to cast a shadow? Perhaps that would add some realism.

Something I am keeping in mind for the next test is 'realistic lighting' on the interior, leveling the camera so the truck is not in perpetual 'no front tire' mode, nailing down the horizon level properly and matching the background plate to the foreground plate in terms of leveling.

I'd like to do a scene of this; with reverese angles and dialogue.

Guess, who just got a greenscreen.....

If I were to cast myself in porn now, do you think Wendy would STILL be upset about it?
