Green Fringing?

I'm considering emptying my wallet on a C300. I was getting close to taking the plunge, then I came across this:

Really? I gave up on my 5DII as a pro film/video camera over a year ago just because of this issue. My question is, how bad is it? The comparison shot with the Scarlet showing the fringing on the wave highlights is just horrible. I know the Scarlet has its own issues but based on that shot I'd buy the Scarlet if everything else was equal. And I seriously doubt Canon will come up with a firmware fix for this.

So far I've seen mostly rave reviews on this camera from the few people who own one and have posted. Would anyone who has used this camera in production care to comment?

As to the wave shot, I've never seen that happen before and I've shot an almost identical shot. Don't know how he made that happen. It has never been a problem in any production footage I've shot, but I can sometimes replicate it if I really try, but never as bad as some of the examples I've seen.

I have not been able to replicate this and I tried hard.

I have shot a few projects now and I deliberatley kept trying to force such an issue without luck. Once i can give the footage from my latest shoot in London I will show several windows and trees with extreme contrast without problems.

I would not hesitate on the C300 because of this. If you want 4k and RAW...get the Scarlett. If you are happy woth 1080p (Alexa users are), then get the C300. It is an amazing tool ready to be used every day.

I have seen really bad aliasing from the C300 as well, though not from the raw files, but from a ProRes 422 HQ transcode, which could possibly be the issue.

Hmmm..interesting aspect. I use FCPX which edits XF native....no need to transcode to ProRes.
