hold the camera vertical so the lens is perfectly flush with the mount before you tighten PL. I didn't think my Sony 35mm fit either when I first got it.
Ok. I'll try that.

Are you positive it's not just chronic overexposure saturating the sensor. what is performance like when exposure is within usual limits? Any anomalies visible then?
I work with Cooke 18-100 quite a bit and holding the camera flat makes mounting that beast a Breeze. Looks like you got the lenses to work based on your other post?

Below is the link to a video of me trying your strategy for attaching my lens but failing at it Lol. Let me know if you see something I can do to fix this.

Hey there,
Did you ever get this lens onto the camera? Asking because I’m thinking of getting the same lens. Let me know thanks so much in advance.
What you are seeing is CCD vertical smear from severe overexposure. If you use vintage PL glass designed for film cameras that don’t have modern anti-reflective coatings it will be worse. Does the F35 have scopes? Waveform? If so you can monitor the clipping to determine optimum exposure with ND’s or with the lens stopped down.
Smears are worse in extreme high contrast situations like a dark figure silhouetted against the sun.
Remove the camera mount ears - attached with screws and it should lock down. It is a known issue with the F35. You will have to DIY another system to turn the locking mount. Hard to do with just your fingers.
Yes, Vertical smearing. It's even in the first ever video posted on this blog about the F35 by MacGregor. Check it out - scroll to 2:03 - Jiust don't blast your EFFING sensors!
you are dealing with at best a 10 stop dr camera.
I always thought the f35 had at least 12 stops and for me I even get more then that at times. 10 stops I wonder what made you think that?
I hate to divert from the main topic, but where is this notion of digital cameras having 12, 14 or 15 stops of DR coming from? What kind of tests corroborate that? Personally, I don't think there is a digital camera ever made that reaches 10 stops of DR. 10 stops are a huge range as is.

10 stops is the mathematical limit for any REC709 compliant video, so that is what you wind up seeing even if the camera can capture significantly broader range. Moving into REC2020/2084 and HDR bumps that a bit. Values captured outside that range are either clipped or compressed to fit within it.
