Great news for Canon users!

I wonder what the street price will be if it's listing for $940. If this thing goes for around $700, it'll sell like hotcakes.

is it possible to record hdv 25f and 50i with the recorder? any good solutions regarding the fcs compatibility using quicktime and prores?
how long time does it take to transfer one hour of footage to my mac?

if this works properly it is amazing!

You gotta read the thread man, that's all possible. I've tried it all and even linked to the fcp plugin. Prores is covered in the thread as well.

i read though the thread one more time.. as far as i can see it doesnt say anything about PAL-users... and interlaced signal to prores...
but maybe it doesnt matter whether it is PAL or NTSC?

If Canon was smart, they would bring something like this to market as well. Seems like a no-brainer to me. Recording HDV to tape sucks.

Does anyone know if it hit the shelves yet? I need this thing badly and like last week! I'm wondering particularly about the Canadian release.

It´s been released in Japan for around 80.000 yen which is like 800$. Sounds like a great deal.

I'm in Japan now. Know where one can buy it? I'd rather buy it here at that price than to buy it in the US and have it shipped to me. :)

Let us know how you plan on mounting this thing. I assume it'd sit atop the camera handle.

Yeah it does, but what I've done is when handheld, I just chuck it in a pocket. I'm gonna make a way for it to mount to the handgrip.

Ah I see. Have you tried using a 32GB CF card? I've noticed in the users guide that the largest card mentioned was the 16GB CF card.
