Great B cam for GH1

There's creative movie mode? It's looking like the only thing missing is interchangeable lenses. I use GH1's to teach workshops here, this is a nifty little thing since it's got shutter and aperture control. Wow.

What's AVCLite like? 720 is way good for me.

Pentax k-x is also worth looking into , $600 with kit lens, 24p hd 720P, IN CAMERA STABILIZATION!!! and it's also the best DSLR under 2k in low light (or some proclaim) but I've seen samples - 3200 ISO photos look pristine, 6400 you have to pixel peep to find grain, 12800 you see some grain, but it's still acceptable for personal use.

I so can't wait until Pentax or Olympus come out with a 1080P DSLR hybrid since both have in camera IS (and hopefully pentax does it first since they have WAY better glass at a way better price)

If there's a PAL version I'm sold for a few. I like the kids to feel some pain without being able to change lenses for a few months, that way when they can afford it and have the chance they've craved the options long enough.

I like limited gear. When I squirm harder nice things come out.

AVCHD lite is a weaker codec than AVCHD which is implemented horribly on the GH1. If I understand it correctly, AVCHD lite is a more consumer, lower quality, more compressed codec. It's all speculation at this point but the codec implementation on the GH1 is barely tolerable. To think of a watered down version of the codec seems horrible.

Resolution - 720 vs 1080 has nothing to do with the Codec. The codec is how it's compressed. And again, that's very poorly with proper AVCHD on the GH1 (that's here you get your mud). I shudder to think of what AVCHD lite mite be on a Lumix.

Hmmm. I'm having quite a time with compression on my GH1 already.

720 is big enough as far as spatial resolution goes. Still I think it's a nice cam to give ten kids on the weekend for any assignment instead of them taking turns.

The codec is weak, all the more reason to get as much right on camera I guess, i had workshops in mind, nothing professional. 30p though. i still think i could pick one up at 300 bucks. toy fix.

Then on the other hand on an Olympus we could still use all the MFT mount lenses or adapters we purchased for our GH1. But it's definetely interesting times!

AVCHD Lite, as I understand it, is not lower in quality in any way. It's just that it's 720p-only. I really don't know why they had to go and create a new name for it, but that's my understanding of it -- AVCHD Lite = 720p-only, whereas AVCHD can include 720p and 1080p and 1080i.

E Pen 2 already has manual controls and a mic input, now they just need to add the 1080p for E Pen 3... and 24p
