Anyone born after the 70's will not understand just how cool this is.

I must have killed thousands in my prime...

I remember our local grocery store had toys in one aisle and they had a large selection of guns - all realistic looking with no red caps on the end. Those were the days.

+1 for " Those were the days".

Sometimes I wonder how we where able to survive our childhood (talking about folks that where born before the 70s) with all that knifes, and slingshots, and that "Red Rider Air Rifle" - I still can hear my mum saying "you gonna take an eye out" LOL - never did, we always aimed at the nuts ;-)

And we did not had protectors, and warning wests and bike helmets, but scars and wounds everywhere. And I was bleeding at some part of my body during my whole childhood.
I can`t remember any of my friends back than, having an allergy of any kind. And we where playing with lead colored toys, the air was polluted with industrial fumes and exhaust gases of cars without any emission gadgets. Most of our parents and their friends smoked everywhere and always and we did not care a second.

And we eat worms and other disgusting stuff, played in the dirt And of course we had every kind of war machinery you can think of. If it kills, we got to have it. The games we played where way more realistic than any first person shooter game, cause even an air rifle bullet hurts. But non of us became a killer or went berserk in a school.

Sometimes I wonder where we are all heading.

And now as a result of all the lead toxins and mutant polluted worms you guys ingested; look how this generation has turned out........

We had huge groups of kikds in my neighborhood playingwar games! There was an old lake and some buildings we played at all summer! And right, part of the pride of growing up was scars and scabs on your arms and legs from wiping out on your bike!! Are we bringing up a bunch of wimps now?

Good times! :-)

I cringe now when I think about how many times I wiped-out on my bike doing something stupid, and taking out the skin of both knees on the pavement, providing huge crusty scabs on my knees for a month or so. :-)

LOL.

What's up with those peanut allergies kids have now? That malarkey didn't exist when we were kids, probably because mommies smoked & drank while we were in the womb.

this thread reminds me of an old Murphy's Law song. No music video, but the lyrics say it all.

My friend had a 22 rifle that we used to take down to the bay and shoot cans. I think we were 14 or 15 then. If we tried that these days we'd be aressted by 12 cop cars and be on the front page of the local paper.

We also had pellet guns. Good ones. And once my buddy, while camping, decided to start shooting at me from outside of the tent that I was sleeping in.
So I grabbed my gun, got out, and spotted him hiding behind a tree. I shot him in the leg that was sticking out and down he went. Man, he had a crater size welt on his thigh for a few days but I didn't appreciate getting shot at while I was in a tent. Right?

We were about 15 yrs then. That was my best friend and that was the good old days.
