Grass Valley Rev Pro

Hello,

Anybody using this product to record in real time through a laptop or for archiving? Has Grass Valley worked out the reliability issues that seemed to plague Imomega?

I remember at MWSF when ProMax was creating Zip Drive RAIDS for DV.

Reliability was an issue. This looks promising, but I still remember the Zip and later, Jazz drive fiasco.

The reliability is greatly improved as the REV drive's read/write heads are sealed within the cartrigde. This wasn not the case with ZIP and JAZ, which requires some outside exposure to the disk surface with every usage.

I'm considering this seriously for archiving purposes. It looks and sounds solid enough. I had a Jazz drive, and still remember the "noise of death" experience with the disk. But Grass Valley Thomson are not new kids on the block in the pro market, and they must know what they're doing. I would definetly stick to their "pro" version vs the consumer Iomega cartridges/drives, tough.
