Grainy footage - need an on camera monitor

I have an XHA1s, notorious for grainy footage esp. in low light situations. The problem is that I never know it until I get back to studio - then I cringe when I play back. I need a great monitor so that I can detect noise and other problems before I record. The viewfinder and flip-out are both worthless in this regard.

I am thinking about 7" and as lightweight as possible. HD quality res component inputs. I was about to order the SmallHD DP1x until I saw this article: http://www.cinema5d.com/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=3742 that talked about poor rendering of blacks and inability to show noise in the image. I am anxious to know how other monitors stack up and what you Canon people are using.

I have read up on all the threads on how to avoid noise, i.e., lighting, AGC off, -3 db gain, custom presets, etc. I still get noise because i cannot see it on the gig.

Well, it came down to the Manhattan and the SmallHD. I chose the SmallHD 8.9" because of its physical dimensions and multiple mounting points. I guess I can attach lights and other things to it. I'll see how good it is when I get it.
