Graham Copeland - DP - DSLR Demo Reel

This demo reel was completely shot in 2010 with the 5D mark II.

Let me know what you think, I'm looking for feedback!

Thanks for your time.

The images are great, but the whole vid could be shortened quite a bit to show a wider variety in less time. If you could cut it down to 3 minutes or less, you'd be better off. Most people don't want to sit through a 6 minute demo reel.

You have a lof of nice shots, and I love your use of long dollies. But I agree with DM_rider, I feel the reel as a whole is way too long, especially since there is no dialoge. Maybe try a different song, one more upbeat to encourage a faster edit.

Hey Graham,
it looks good. I stopped at the 3:10 mark as would most producers or directors, maybe. If after that point you don't have the job, well, then they want someone taller:) The images look great. Composition and movement are beautiful. Nothing else to say really. One question, are you working a lot? The reason I ask is if you are not then there must be something wrong with you as a human being. Maybe you look like Charles Manson:) Because with a reel like this you should be getting work.
Cheers.

Just to echo the common sentiment here, it's way too long. I've made reels before and I continually advise people to put all their best stuff in the first thirty seconds and definitely no longer than three minutes. For some reason, everyone wants their reels to be like seven minutes long. I don't know why this is.

Thanks for the great feedback!

This definitely wasn't cut to be a quick sizzle reel - I wanted to show off a few big projects in depth, and mainly show the range of what I've done lately.

Douglas, I almost lost my coffee when I read your comment. That's too funny man, and no, I don't look like Manson! I stay busy enough, but who isn't always looking for bigger projects? Thanks for the compliment and the laugh!

I suppose a three minute sizzle reel is in order......
