Hi all, While I can do basic corrections, in PP Cloud, I am looking to advance my skills a little and learn more about colour correction and grading....especially with the 420 space I am working in. I have gone through some very basic tutorials on the matter to get my footage looking even and the like but was wondering if anyone could recommend any free, downloadable tutorials on the matter. Also do you think it is worth getting Resolve lite to do my corrections of just stick to PP. Thanks heaps all, Phil ....Stupid enter button doesn't work here!!!!!!

The cc update coming in October will better integrate speedgrade and premier, ie you will be able to directly open your premiere timeline w/o exporting. So I'd take a look at that.

That being said, Resolve is the leader in grading and the light version is very powerful.

Look at the Van Hurkman Resolve training on the ripple website.

You cant beat the free version of Resolve, but I would also try out Red Giant Colorista FREE version. i use Colorista II for all my grading because it works inside my NLE and it saves me time not exporting out my project. Go to the link below and give it a try. Also Red Giant has a very good Vimeo channel with tutorials for their products.
My hat is off to you for wanting to learn because I think these days with the power of log and raw you really need to learn to grade to get the most out of your images. We are living in great times that gives us incredible power to create our vision.

You should with to resolve if you want maximum control over color correction/grading but I find this to be time consuming. You can get great results with color correction/grading in your NLE, even with basic tools like: Curves, Three Way Color Correction and Hue Saturation. There is on important tip I can give you: Always take footage as close as possible to final desired look. This will save you a lot of time! You will be able to get better results from compressed footage like C100. I used resolve for a couple of months and this is awesome program but for my weddings/documentaries this will be too much. Grading in NLE is very convenient. All my work at my website was graded in the NLE. Check it out :)
Deside what option is better for you and go for tutorials go to YouTube.

if you own a Open CL graphic card you might consider Magic Bullet. I use it with CS6 and a GTX280, which is CUDA enabled but still I can't review or playback the files once MB is applied.
With an OpenCL card this should be possible and gives you quite a speed boost as well. Let aside that Denoiser II would be working with it too.

Thanks heaps for the replies everyone...Will check out Resolve and Colorista. cheers again..Phil
