Grabs from our short film...

Debate, thank the lord! (Keeping within theme)
I want in.

Shots

1 Sad-man, don’t like the ratio. Nice composition. He is…sad.
2 Bad cuticle shot. I’ve seen another similar grab posted before the crash :->
peeling an orange me-thinks. Don’t your American Actors take care of their hands?
3 I like this shot. I think your right Coletrain A.O.K, though don’t like the ratio.
4 Sadman walking dangerously close to the tracks. A.O.K. CC it though. Ratio perfect. Get that Sadman away before he gets hurt. Doesn’t anyone realize he’s sad?
5 Half of Sadman. Bad Sadman. Zoom-out. Or get on that hill behind you.
6 Orange twig. I hope that Sadman is walking into this shot. Otherwise symbolism of…a…the…that thing…the twig…with the….
7 Inspired. Symbolism at its most effective. Small Sadman alone in a big universe. Great location.

I would never belittle any artists work. Just lightening the mood.

He's not sad at all.

Hey Coltrain, are we going to get to see the whole film at some point? I'm curious about what the film is about. How about a clip or an explanation of what motivated your framing?

Actually it was composed with a great deal of care.

I agree in that the 5th feels awkward. Done with care or not. Unless thats the beginning of a pan, it feels awkward.

We seem to be on the same wavelength, the crane is the shot that's bothering me. The smokestack/tower is doable.

Forgive me Coltrain; I was just making an observation albeit subjective. I hope it was not taken the wrong way. May I ask a couple 'subjective driven' questions?

1. The shot with the young man looking at the tower? His head is castrated. Any reason for this?

2. The shot with the crane? His entire body has been severed from the mid-spine down. Any reason for this?

I undersatnd you put some careful thought into these comps and one grab is merely that; it could be at the beginning or end or middle of a shot; I'm trying to understand your motivation for these 2 shots in particular and am not trying to come across as a pain in the ass.

Usually when someone releases some 'production stills' they aim to grab the best of the bunch; these 2 particular comps have me wondering what you had in mind.

Damn, I am coming across as an ass aren't I? Hey, it's a forum. Consider it chat.

 :lipsrseal :undecided

John, stop being a pain in the ass. :D
But hey, that is good and I like when people criticise my work, cause I only learn from it.

So Coltrain, take it as a learning experience.

But, John, next time go easy, ok?

All the best

Fidel.
