G'day,

Here are some grabs from our shoot yesterday, got the whole film shot in 12 hours (all is based in the one room). These are raw grabs with no color correction. Let me know what you all think. Cheers

Good lucking stuff, should provide a good foundation for color correcting. I would recommend darkening drop the blacks. It looks like it might be the kind of story that can benefit from that.

And you are still free to color it how you like.

Still #5 is really bad. It is too flat, no enough contrast. Looks like the damn sun caught you by surprise. Hopefully you can do something with that in post.

I like everything else though.

i like it clevage it good cant wait to see some clips to see , what settings u had the dvx on clevage ?

Thanks Guys.
Mark Dog; the settings were DVX-100B, 24p, ND 1/8 (for some), 1/25 shutter, and I set the Master Ped level down to -15 I think to make the blacks more prominent.
Lighting was 2-3 redheads with blue gels, all set up outside the window to come through the blinds.

kewl grabs man

as for your settings, try next time shoting with your master ped at either 0 or +5. Having a flatter picture when your editing can make it much easier to play with the settings in post. You get much more control, from what ive tried, over your blacks this way.

lol, what kind of light did you have outside? home depot light?

thanks cleavage cant wait to see a clip man , my eyes wanna see the pretty pictures on my TV screen lol

That silencer is some mean and dirty business. It's the kind of silencer you leave sitting right on top of the corpse... a nice little f**k you to the cops. Oooh... and it gets hot after a couple of rounds go through it, too... I heard a hooker from 'the garage' got branded by one of those. Leaves a scar like a donut, nasty, hard to heal properly.
*cue sound of rain on roof*

I was wondering the same thing. The shadows cast on the ceiling are very dramatic, but why are the lights left in frame? Was this intentional?

Matthew Bennett... that's great? Lol, any comments on the grabs rather than the silencer?

And the lights weren't supposed to be visible, it was a quick shot setup and the blinds had been recently opened more from the last shot and it was an oversight - we had a few oversights of things being in frame cause I was on a tight schedule. I should be able to fix up the visibility of the light in post because it's a static shot.

I think the lighting is good. I'm sure when one sees the moving image it will come together. I have one small criticism: the makeup on the guy with the gun. It's a bit theatrical, more for the stage than close-up work.

agnus, its funny you should mention that, the girl we got to do make-up is actually more a theatre oriented person and this was one of her first times applying make-up for a film, hopefully it won't be as obvious once its cut together and color corrected.

Slimothy, there's not much natural light getting into the room, most of it is the redheads beaming through the blinds from outside - for the majority of the day we hung a massive black sheet outside so most of the natural light was blocked so that we had more control with our lighting setup.
