Grabs A1 vs DVX?

I love the Cine colour and gamma (cine-D, I guess) of the DVX, and I'm curious if the A1 with it's impressive image controls can match it. Could those of you with both cams, please post some grabs where the A1 is set to match the "DVX look".

And those of you posting A1 footage could you please post the size of the clips for those of us on dial up. Long clips are un-doable for many of us. Thanks a bunch.

Disjecta has a pana-look preset for the H1, and it's just a few minor tweaks.

Compared to the DVX, you're getting an image that you can color correct for SD much more effectively. (technically you can downsample HDV to 4:4:4 SD)

They're different breeds, but yes, you can achieve a DVX-like look...but there's more latitude for heavier cc with an oversampled picture.

Why not talk about what's unique about the A1 instead of trying to make it imitate another camera?

I agree with Elton. I'm sure this camera can create some pretty neat looks itself. It maybe is relevant to match the DVX if you are going to mix footage from both cams, but otherwise just go for the best look you can with the A1. That's what I would do. :)

I understand what you guys are saying, still...the DVX is THE touchstone for video cameras that emulate the filmlook (in our price range, anyway).

And I'd still like to see some comparison grabs, please. Has Disjecta posted some H1/DVX comparisons using his presets. If so, could you point me to them? Thanks.

I sold my DVX some time ago, otherwise I'd be happy to oblige...but I still think it's a bit pointless. You can paint with any of these new cameras, so looking for a slight difference in picture because of varying gamma or color processing is just going to confirm that a DVX is a DVX and an A1 is an A1.

The A1 is basically a mini-H1 with a few new wrinkles. If you like H1 imagery then it won't disappoint you.
