Got my DVX today: A few questions

Hey everyone,

I just got my DVX100b today and it is great! I have a few questions, though. Number one, the lens cap is really annoying when it is just hanging there. On the cap, though, I see that there is a kind of clip. Where does this clip onto? Number two, I am going to shoot my upcoming short in 16:9. I have the camera set to "letterbox", so while it looks widescreen, will it look like that on DVD?

the first question i dont know. But the second is depending your settings in the editing program. Some programs thinks it is real widescreen and removes the black stripes, witch means that the picture gets more "height". Another thing to do is to put the stripes into the picture in post.
 
Well as for the cap, I just take mine off and put it in my pocket, but its easy to forget.
As for letterboxing, I'd use squeeze if you intend to go out to a 16x9 DVD, that way it will play on almost all 4x3 TVs and on all 16x9 TVs. And I definitely would suggest it for web distribution, because compression with letterboxed 4x3 usually ends up bad.

OK, thanks for the info. I just shot some footage in squeeze mode and captured it to Final Cut Pro. For some reason, the footage still looks like it is in squeeze mode, or just normal 4:3. Am I supposed to do something in Final Cut?
