got a clip on a news report A1

It's tough to tell from the youtube quality but the boxing shots looked better than the studio shots.... : ) Congrats... Hooray for Birmingham!

Congratulations Russell, looked great considering the utube compression! It's a bit of a thrill to know lots of people got to see your stuff eh? I'd been eagerly anticipating some of your boxing footage to see how the A1 handled high motion. I finally ordered mine a few weeks ago but unfortunately I'm still waiting for it to arrive!

I've done a couple jobs for ITN with an XH-A1 (cavision shoulder mounted, FM-500 matte box), which are aired on the early evening ITN News (national UK), entire spots where I did a v brief sit down interview with a politician & correspondent, then recording b-roll to cut together the story. These were stand-in positions where my name was recommended and I was local and available at short notice (i.e. 0-2hrs), rather than them making a calculated decision. Guys who I dealt with were tech-clueless, they asked their 'tech guys' and said Z1 or better, 16:9 SD, DV, DVCAM, or DIGI- I said 'no problem'. No complaints, aired prime time national TV news, cut in perfectly.

ps., I don't freelance camera like this much, we I co-run a small production company and can barely keep up with our own work.. but they called on quiet days, was very brief, well paid, and rare opportunity to see your footage on national tv .. let alone 2hrs after you shot it.

good job Kris did you shoot in SD then? I did mine in HDV in an email I had back of them they said "in the end we managed to find a machine to capture it from" wich I was quite suprised at, Im guesing they used a Z1 or equivelent deck

Yeap shot 16:9 50i, as I was handing him the tape right after filming. Presumably he chucked it into a Sony DSR 25 or whatever and never thought twice about what it was shot on.
