Gorillapod stabilizer on flickr

(post deleted, sorry I was derailling your topic so early in the thread)

I've held two legs of my Gorilla pod against my chest and one leg up as a handle right of camera. Left hand on lens for focus, eye in EVF. Works very well, done some pretty steady handheld that way. Unlike her method mine allows for putting down the rig fast just bending down the 'handle'.

I rented a 5D2 (GH1s are seemingly nonexistent) to try this week, and experimented with an old technique for holding cameras steady. It seems to work reasonably well, especially when the subject is filling half or more of the frame. When I tried using a 24mm lens for a landscape, there was some side to side wobble that is not noticeable in the closed shots, even those with longer focal lengths. I am using a small Leica tripod and ball head - the only photo I have is one a photographer from Japan took of me when we were covering the Dulles Expo (opening of Dulles airport) - around 1971, I think. You can see the technique in the photo.

Can anyone tell me if the lens stabilization on the GH1 allows for steady hand held video, or does it also have to be used with a stabilizer like the Glidecam?

Thanks,

Bill

Is breathing part of this method? LOL

Someone let me know how telephoto you can go before you're back to square one, though. Looks interesting.
