GH4 Good RAID 5 setup for 4K editing?

I've used the pegasus M4 for a couple days now and although the speeds are nice, the premium for the small package is a bit excessive. So yesterday I purchased an OWC 4 bay raid with thunderbolt and locally (on sale) 4x 4tb WD red nas drives, giving me 16bg raid for $1300 (that's the OWC enclosure and the 4 drives altogether) vs only 4tb for over $1500 with the pegasus.
Is this the SoftRAID version? or does the box have a RAID controller built in.

I upgraded my eSATA 5 drive enclosure to eSATA III and will be adding 6TB WD RED drives. This is for backups instead of active storage at least thats what I'm thinking right now. Thats 32 TB of backup storage. I Need the space for archiving and with UHD coming into my life it's going to get worse.

Also thinking about using SoftRAID instead of hardware RAID. I purchased a MAXPower 4-Port eSATA RAID Card that does RAID 5 and 10.

This is all for a hot rod 2009 Mac Pro. LOL! I'm squeezing every drop out of it. Check out how I turned my old 2009 into a beast. It's really stable and is very fast. Holding out until I have to buy the trash can.

I recently moved from a hardware based RAID 5 running over eSATA to a 2 drive internal RAID0 using OSX's built in software RAID. People always comment on software RAID taking up computer resources but I've not seen any noticeable difference in CPU. The internal software RAID0 seems quicker to react, and it fixes problems I've always had with the external drive unmounting when the computer goes to sleep.

Read on my internal 2 drive RAID0 is about 275 MB/s
Read on my external 4 drive RAID5 is about 180 MB/s (slightly older drives but still quality 7200s)

Internal 12TB software raid 0 handles Shogun 4k 10 bit perfectly for my needs. The biggest downside is how vulnerable RAID 0; a single drive failure will wipe out the whole array. I have plenty of space on a NAS and TimeMachine keeps my RAID0 backed up. If you don't have a good backup plan then stay away from RAID0.
