Good news about AF100 firmware

it means panasonic did not block the possibilities of achieving broadcast level coding on the AF100.

Yeah, but are they realistically going to come back and upgrade the camera via firmware to be broadcast worthy?!

A small wish-list gathered from my own nits and others' posts:

- killing headphone output and/or audio meters in VFR
- 1:1 pixel zoom
- ISO being selectable from the rear wheel
- more frame rates, down to, say, 1fps
- relocating/swapping record button(s)

SHHHH!

Stop talking about hacking the firmware until more of the cameras shipped to us. I don't want Panasonic to realise and close it down by 'locking' the code...

Since the codec and other functions are pretty similiar to the HMC150, does this mean that the HMC should be hackable also? I'm really eager to see if it is possible to boost the 24 mbit per second on the AF100 and the HMC

This is very exciting but one of the weakest parts of the camera hasn't been AVCHD as we initially feared but the 8 bit (from 18bit dsp) downconvert.

Any hopes of a 10bit output?
