I've been looking around for a a good pair of headphones for around $100. They would be for editing in my computer and to hook up to an external recorder or in-camera jack. Any suggestions?

The Industry Standard in Europe is the Sennheiser HD 25-1 II - low impedance and far more efficient than the Sony that is popular in the USA. about 14dB more efficient I think.

But it's a bit more than your budget.

The HD 25-SP II are a lot cheaper and probably within your budget - the main saving is in the cheaper headband, though the SP is not quite as good as it's more expensive brother.

I hope this helps.

After using Sonys for 10 years in the field (same pair - that says something) I switched up to Audio Technica ATM-50s. I was shocked at the increase in detail and lack of mud. But that's just me.

I think they're worth a listen if you're comparing models. They cost the same (more or less) as 7506s IF you pick them up at/order from a certain manhattan superstore where they seem to sell for $50-$70 less than anywhere else.

If you can get Audio Technica ATM-50 for $100 go for it. Over here they cost 160€ and are still worth it (my reference field cans)! Sony MDR-7506 are a good standard, though, never a wrong choice.
