Golden Boy of the Blue Ridge - Now Playing!

[Jaime Valles]

Hello, all! Here's a quick promo video I made for the new Off-Broadway musical "Golden Boy of the Blue Ridge":

http://vimeo.com/4148972

Shot with a stock DVX100 from the back of the theater, with a camera-mounted shotgun mic (Sennheiser ME66/K6). Vimeo makes the audio quality suffer immensely, but the original audio recorded sounds fine (you can listen to it by downloading the original video clip on the Vimeo page).

This is a really, really good musical, with an original bluegrass score. Based on J.M. Synge's controversial Irish play "The Playboy of the Western World", the writers moved the action to the Appalachian mountains during the Great Depression. Highly recommended if you're in the New York City area.

Feedback is very welcome!

looks decent i'll be shooting something similar this weekend...but a dance show. Did u feed the the shotgun audio to the both channels or used one input for shotgun and one for the built in mic?

I fed the shotgun audio into both channels, set at different levels to be able to protect one from clipping.

Good luck with the dance show!

Thanks! It was shot letterbox. I'd love to shoot in squeeze mode, but the original DVX100 didn't have that option. :embarasse
