Going way up north...

Very very cool. Looks like a good place to bring the camera. Catch me a couple of salmon and some crabs.

Yeah, I just found it on Google Earth..

That's about 280miles south of where I spend my summers (Juneau, AK). :)

SouthEast Alaska (and surouding Canada) is some of the most incredible sceneray on the planet.

Prince Rupert... don't get me started, man.

Prince Rupert is the reason Czech should be one of Canada's official languages.

Okay, okay - I know, I am plugging the Czech thing once again (or still). Prince Rupert was born in Prague, was the son of Elizabeth Stuart (a.k.a. Elizabeth of Bohemia, of the British royal family) and Friedrich von Pfalz, who was the last elected Czech king before the Czech kingdom was (once again) forcibly Catholicized in 1620.

His was an amazing life (soldier, pirate, politician, scientist, businessman), and although he never stepped on North American soil, he was at the birth of British North America (a.k.a. Canada). He was the first governor of Hudson's Bay Company, which is the oldest incorporated company in existence in North America. Rupert's Land was the huge swath of land that include pretty much all of Hudson's Bay watershed (plus more).

That's some Czech trivia for my fellow dvx'ers. You can find more about his fascinating life here and here.

I think it's a shame that all that Canada does to commemorate him is a remote town in Northern BC (but every little bit counts).

End of my Czecho-Canadian patriotic plug.:dankk2:

It's only 55*N .. Really not that far north at all! That's abotu level with the north of England or Germany.

- Mikko ... currently at 60*N

Did I mention that place is awesome? I didn't? :kali: me!

Yeah, the West coast is just amazing. In my next life, I'll be born there.
