Going way up north...

Hey Gang, so I am on my last day teaching up here and it has been an incredible experience.
The town of Gingolx just got a road here 2 years ago.
As you can imagine the road has had huge social and economic impact on these people.
The culture of the people of the Nisgaaa is really prolific.
Gingolx means 'place of skulls', where there has been many battles between the Nisgaa, and the Haida.
I have eaten tons of crab, salmon and sealion while I have been here.
Students have done great with the course.
Here is a pix from a shoot I was doing with the class, video was of an elder telling old stories to the children.

That's awesome...these things need to be preserved more than ever. I was looking at some Nat'l Geo photos today and noticed bits and pieces of modern cutlture seeping in.

So true. This has been one of the most amazing experiences i have ever gone through.
I am a proud Canadian, but have nowhere near the depth that their culture has in it's deep history.
Sure they have alot of very harsh problems, but by teaching them a creative oulet to express themselves has been one of the greatest things. To see the students eat this course up, and develop a new found passion for their people and their history has been a really tremendous experience.
