Going from T1i to 7D? Worth it...? or 35mm adapter?

That is the question...

Would going from a T1i to a 7D make me any happier?

After owning a T1i for a while, video is just not up to par with a 1/3 CCD HD camera like the HMC150 I am trying to match it with.

I shoot mostly live events, commercials and shorts.

Should I be looking at the 7D as a good upgrade? Or go the Letus / 35mm adapter for the HMC150 I currently have?

Thanks :D

Same as the t1i - mostly for artsy b roll, obviously not anything lengthy.

We will usually snap a few pics between shooting also...

I would think the Canon 7D would be great. if you got the money go for it. maybe not for live events, but for commercials and shorts it should be fine

I just don't know if its going to be that much better then the t1i. (where they are similar 720/30p)

I do like that it would have 1080 options and HDMI monitoring output, making it more compatible to a normal video camera setup.

I dont like that it cost double the $$ and doesn't use SDHC cards.

A 35MM adapter would get me the SLR lenses and I would not be limited to the capabilities of the 7D/T1i... ah

I'll say one thing...."more light."

Ok…that’s two…but compared to using an adapter….it’s like night and day (no pun intended).

If you're talking about 35 lens adapters, then easily get the 7D. With the amount of lenses and the ability to rent them cheaply, hands down 7D.

But again shooting live is tough! Just check out the video I made, specifically the bmx'er at the end. Following him was tough and almost all my shots were soft (thankfully I had multi-angles!)

Matching is still going to be tough and of the utmost importance. Clients don't care what technology you used, just make it look good. Personally, what ever makes your life the easiest at the shoot and in post is the best option.
