Going from HD to DVD?

AFter the capture and editing of HD footage ,what is the best method to go to DVD if you want to retain as much image information as possible?
 
I'm not sure what you mean. But, the way I export a reference movie from FCP (it doesn't have to be self contained) and then let DVDSP convert that ref movie to mpeg2 while I build the buttons, tracks, etc... for the DVD. I set up the program for a 2-pass VBR encode, and let it do it's work in the background. Is that what you're looking for?
