FS7: Going beyond internal 6 stops of ND

What is better method to go beyond 6 stops of internal ND: combine internal and external nd or just use stronger external?

If using that much ND, should you use an external filter that includes infra-red reduction? Or does the FS7 have have IR control built in?

I would and have gone full internal with the least bit external (0.3 - 0.9). Lowers the chance of a heavy external ND introducing a color shift, IR or far red. The internal sony filters on at least the F3 and 5/55 do not seem to create any changes beyond pure ND. I'd imagine the FS7 is the same.

Ok, many thanks! :) That's what I wanted to know :)

I can't find and info on it but it must, I shoot outside often and do not get the red /magenta shift with the FS7 internal like I did with the FS100 without IR externals.... I will test but I think some IR filters will give you a green cast when combined with the internal. (pretty sure it was a Tiffin)

I bought a single NDIR filter, I can’t remember, maybe five stops. I will then use this in conjunction with the internal filter as needed. The internal ND filters are supposed to have IR built into them.
