He picks up a bus and throws it back down as he wades through the buildings toward the center of town.
And I don't care about Godzilla at all. I'm not a child. I don't care about giant monsters knocking about cities. I've seen this before. In the last ten years, I've seen this kind of thing about 35 times now.
But what I am interested in -- and I'm slightly hopeful for this movie, based upon the trailer -- is that at least one more movie might possibly make me say "Gee whiz" or even "Wow" one more time in my life.
At least someone is thinking. That's a good thing.
+100. I grew up on Godzilla. Well, not literally, I mean, you'd probably need a big saddle to do that literally, but ... when I was a kid, Godzilla was a hero, not a monster. Yes he was a "monster" in the vey first film, but after that they got the formula right and he became a lizardy Han Solo, an anti-hero who got dragged into conflicts he didn't want and didn't ask for but when the fight was on, it was ON...
Interesting mini-review on the trailer and the state of monster films in general.

Yeah, I was actually about to just do my typical "What are these assholes doing?" sort of post but then I watched the trailer.
Anyway, I'm sure Godzilla is awful, like every other piece of crap that Hollywood makes.
While I agree with some of what the article is saying, it sounds like the author of that article has made up his/her mind already.
Then even after seeing some potential in the trailer, they still slag off the film:
Seems like an overly cynical attitude that is destined to lead to guaranteed disappointment.
And amazes me that they think that that style of writing is what people want.
When i saw the trailer for pacific rim, my cynical side expected it to be a terrible hollywood film, but i instead just hoped it wouldn't suck, that's all, just please dont suck and be a fun, park my brain and eat too much popcorn kind of movie, don't be too into yourself, dont overdue it, just give me some big fun. and it did, and i was very pleased. i thought it was a bold move to do exactly the OPPOSITE of backstory and skip ahead to the 'everythings kinda sort ok' time and then bad stuff happens. it also makes me hope they'll now make the prequel where more stuff gets explained and we get more about the monsters and who sent them an whatnot.
