GH2 Glidecam: XR vs. HD

Does anyone have any information on the differences between the XR series and HD series of Glidecams? I saw that the XRs are apparently somewhat new and the price points are a bit lower than the HDs.

I did see a photo of an iPhone mounted on an XR-1000, which seems....special....

The main difference seems to be the weights. I have a glidecam pro 2000, which is too much for the GH2 due to it being so light. The way you adjust the weights on the XR series looks to be the same way you adjust on the pro series, which can be a pain. The HD series has an easier to balance weight system and I'm guessing that's why it's more money. When I saw the glidecam tent at cinegear they showed us the new weight system for the HD series and it's much nicer. If I had to choose, I would get the HD series based off of that alone.

If this is a piece of "buy once, use forever" equipment, just go for HD. I don't know the acutal difference between XR and HD, and couldn't find any information about how one series is compared to the other. I believe HD is the right, though more expensive, choice of HD SLR shooters. So I went for it. If money matters more, Glidecam Pro 2000 is now a bargain, especially if on sale.

yeah i got the glidecam hd 1000 for my gh2 recently - when researching the difference it was mostly to do with the weight system.

the the glidecam that supports more weight, add metal plates under the camera, makes for a rig that supports heavier cameras and flies smoother overall.

I've been really enjoying the flycam nano, I've used it in most of my vids. Still works on the principal of balancing load via plates, but it's worked amazing with the gh2 and every prime I've chucked on.
