here is my first test with the glidecam and I must say it is really heavy . I have to learn a lot because the footage has a lot of wobble and shaking. It's harder than I thought but with learning by doing I think it will be good.

How are you holding/steering the glidecam ?

I have my right hand on the rod and with my thumb and three fingers of my left hand I am steering the glidecam directly. I now put a little weight away (mic) and will shoot some more.

How many plates do you have on your glidecam? I have only 6 and my droptime is 2,5 sec but it shakes a lot.

Ive got five , with out any mics. My drop time is 3.
try extending the telescoping plates abit . Does your camera lean to the left or right ?
I had some wiggle in the beginning to.

Wow without the mic it is much better. I did another droptime test and controlled the time in premiere and it was under 2 sec. My telescoping plates are completely extended and I think that's the problem why the footage looks like I'm on a boat . I have to adjust a little bit more and test again.

your drop time should be between 2-3 secs.

I know. The time changed because of putting away the mic and XLR cable.

It's the amount of time it takes for the rig to swing of it's own weight from horizontal to vertical.
