Glidecam 2000 Pro?

Anyone have much experience with these, particularly with the HMC150? One was literally dropped in my lap yesterday. The owners are giving it to me on "permanent loan" since they don't have much use for it at the moment.

We have the 4000, but seen many people say the 2000 is perfect if you are not going to add a bunch of accessories on the cam...

The 4000 gets very heavy...

I actually had the 4000 for my DVXs and HMC150, but I found it way too heavy and hard to balance, so I got a 2000 and am much happier. Works great with the 150. Don't have a lot of heavy accessories though - just a shotgun mic and big battery.

although i have been using a Pilot, my son has been using my 2000Pro for a HMC150. i originally bought the 2000Pro for a DVX100a and the HMC150 is about almost identical. perfect fit.

Yes, I have extensive experience with exactly that -- and yes, it's a vastly better fit for the HMC150/HPX170 than the 4000 series.

For people buying new -- get the newer "HD" series -- as it's easier to balance. But, if you got a 2000 Pro for free -- then yes, -- it'll work perfectly.

For event shooting you'll need an arm and vest (Smooth Shooter works, X-10 is better). For shorter clips you can use it handheld.

Sorry for hijacking. What is the best way to mount the camera to the glidecam? Do you have to screw it on every time? Would love to be able to pop it on and off and swap with my bogen 503.

Well, then, you're in luck!

Go to the B&H web site and search for Manfrotto Quick Release Adapter. I believe there are at least two options that will work.

I use a HD 2000 for the HMC. It's way too heavy for handheld. 5 mins of usage = superman strength.

Probably better to use a Glidecam with the vest or use it on a GH - 1.
