Glidecam 2000 Pro test flight!

Got this thing about a month ago and have used it a few times now. I feel like i finally have the thing in balance because i generally get a very steady camera when i hold it straight in the air even after throwing it left right up and down, backwards and forwards, yadda yadda

Here is a little demonstration of the glidecam 2000 pro ( 200 pro in the video lol ) with the DVX100b 24pa, with a few camera settings set and even more post afterwards. The camera was on auto all the time. I hitt the stabilizer twice during this little test flight so forgive the quick shakes hehe.

Very nice - LOVELY colors!!!

A bit too much compression though, but I bet it looks great in full rez.

Very nice indeed! Looks like Magic Bullet was used, or at least a way to blur the highlights and the blacks. Very filmic, both the colours and the smooth movement.

the cc was doen myself, i used basic white diffusion in magic bullet. I wonder if they would use some of that for their site if i had a better version :)

k i changed the footage so that its much better quality.

now its 12 megs though, still pretty small for 2 minutes. check it out!

looks awesome. i jusy got a used glidecam 4000 off ebay and played with it a bit and it's mad hard to adjust right. i'm thinking about getting the body pod, or maybe the arm brace.

yo dav, what i noticed between the 4000 and the 2000 is the only difference is the length of the lower telescoping tube as well as the number of weights. And since that bottom piece is removeable, just gotta find something to extend it.

Seemed very handheld to me. Could pick every step clearly. Granted better than handheld, but was very stiff.

Sorry I should add Papa that I know with my experience with the Merlin it does take some getting used to. I still have an issue with keeping same headroom.

The shot was very good. I had a change of mind cuz I was even trying to get a smooth shooter. Dude, you sold me on the Glidecam men~!.

I don't know, it might have had a few TINY bumps here and there, but it seemed extremely smooth to me, especially for handheld type work.

The footage looked really good, PaPa. It was great getting to explore the house like that.

no for sure, the steps were really crappy on my part. I still need tons of experience, was actually gunna cut the steps part out, but i wanted to have that text with " thats me " come up, so i sacraficed some of the quality of the glidecam. But that was me, not the glidecam, anytime it shifted quickly was my left hand either by accident or just tried to get somethign specific and failed miserably. but these things DEFINATELY take alot of practice to get good at. im on my way.

link dead?

How many weights are you using on front and back?

i have the pole extended to its maximum length, just before it would wabble if i pushed it backwards and forwards at the joint.
and on the bottom i have 3 weights and 3 weights, all of them are exactly the same distance from the pole, which is basically at the very ends, however the weights are exactly tangent with three of the sides. Then i always keep those weights where they are and i position the camera ontop everytime accordingly, knowing the only thing i have to adjust are the plates on top. And i can get it ready now in 3 minutes.

I liked the footage. I've read in other posts that the glidecam 2000 (and 4000) is a bear to balance. It sounds like you experienced the same issues? How hard was it holding it by hand? Also read you need to be the Governor of California to hold it for a few minutes straight.

i got it for 175 used off of Yours truly forums. hehe the marketplace is a wonderful thing!

and yeah, it was a ***** and a half to balance the first time through. I think it took me nearly a week, at which point i was ready to through the thing through my f*ckingwall, pardon my french. But now were buddies, i keep the ewights on the bottom the same, just adjust on top a little bit here and there. works like a charm!

and yes, i would not use this thing for more than 5 mins at a time, my forearm muscles are benifiting greatly from it though!

actually included in that 175 i got the arm brace, which helps at times, but does not give me as much control, i find.

ditto, i have the 2000 and it kills your arm and wrist. i'm thinking of one of the low cost vests for mine...

papa, clip looked good. i was still very aware that it was someone walking around with a cam because of the occasional jolt but much better than i have done with mine as of yet so kudos to you. i bet a vest with the additional shock absorption would smooth that out.

ya likei said, alot of the jerking and swaying was my fault cause im no pro at it yet, but i know just from playing around with it that this thing CAN achieve perfect results if you know how to use it properly.

link not working? should work..
